Hi, first i would like to say thank you for your awesome emulators and apps that are downloadable on the wii. My personal wii has become the ultimate retro gaming system. For the last 3 days the homebrew browser has not been able to connect to the server. I was curious if this is a problem on my side, or if the homebrew browser is actuallly down rigt now. I have been able to manually work around it, but it is such a nice app, i was curious if it was still accessible. Thank you for everything!

The Homebrew Browser no longer works. You must manually add apps.

It keeps on saying "Read error -81 occurred. Retrying..." and one time it told me that a list was not installed, even though I did everything correctly! I don't know what to do. Please help right away!

Hi, I hope you can help me. Long story short - I want to play .d64 games in my Wii. It's a storebought Wii, so I guess I have a long road ahead of me. I guess I should start with installing Homebrew - can you give me a few starting advices? ABC you know, how to get the end result of playing .d64-files on my Wii for dummies :} Regards!

From what I could find, you are trying to run Commodore 64 files. If you install The Homebrew Channel using my guide, you can run the C64-network.org emulator from here: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/C64-network.org
Just follow the directions for the app on the wiki page.

a) Would this be because I'm using a WiiU Wiimote? I figured this wouldn't be an issue since it's basically a Wii Wiimote.
b) Would it be wise to invest in the Classic Controllers? Or the GC pads with the add on?

I just don't want to spend any more money on controllers if they are not going to work.

Please help! It's greatly appreciated.

I think the problem is that your Wii remote is too new for the build of Wii64 you are using. Since that app hasn't been updated for years it likely doesn't recognize the newer remotes. What you can do is try "Not64" which is a more updated version. You can find that here: http://www.gc-forever.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2723 The Classic Controller would have the same problem as the nunchuck because the problem is with the Wii remote itself, and, as far as I know, no Wii homebrew can use the GameCube port adapter for the Wii U.
I hope this helps!

Hey friend, I'm hoping you can help me out with my modded WiiU.
What I have done:
Installed HBC and HBB on my vWii on my WiiU. Works fine. I set it up with Smash Stack. Used HBB to download emulators. They all work. Except 1.. Wii64. Now, it installed properly from HBB. The issue is that Wii64, once booted up, will not recognize my Wiimote. I thought maybe it was an issue with not having the Nunchuck attachment. I picked one up. Still not responding. The emulator doesn't glitch or freeze or anything. My Wiimote just flashes and doesn't respond, even when pressing the home button.

So my questions:
a) Would this be because I'm using a WiiU Wiimote? I figured this wouldn't be an issue since it's basically a Wii Wiimote.
b) Would it be wise to invest in the Classic Controllers? Or the GC pads with the add on?

I just don't want to spend any more money on controllers if they are not going to work.

Please help! It's greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I find your tutorial just great. Go further!
I have a complete crazy idea for you: What about to hack PS4 and let it play WII games?
Wii is coll for the family and PS4 is great for one guy alone.

Yeah, that's not going to happen any time soon. Many of the hackers which hacked the Wii, PS3, etc. have lost interest in console hacking with the release of products such as the OUYA which is already an open system. I believe that the market is going towards these open systems for those that want to use emulators and such and the console hacking will not be as necessary as it once was in order to play what you want. Of course I cannot speak for everyone and maybe someone will break open the PS4.

Hi,

After many attempts I have been able to install the homebrew channel on my wii u running in vii mode. However when I launch the homebrew channel I can only see nice bubbles. I understand that I have to install the browser so I downloaded it and launched the installation via homebrew channel. It starts loading however it stop at a line saying to press A for updates or B to skip. The problem is that my remote controller switches off automatically during the installation and when I switch it on it keeps flashing and nothing happens and the installation hangs there forever. Pressing A or B does not seem to have any effect. the message I receive is the following:

"Checking for Homebrew Browser updates...
v0.3.9e

Updated with the latest libogc which should correct network issues some users are experiencing

New update available! Press A to update or B to skip this update"

Any idea how to solve this?

Many thx,

Bought a secondhand wii yesterday. Earlier this week tested the please.hackmii.com site and it worked. When I am entering now on the site from different links I get a 503 error.

Yes the site was down for a bit, but it seems to be working now.

I was really excited to find your download until I read not for 4.3. I had downloaded the letter bomb in my wii and I followed the steps press one, press continue and then I pressed exit as I did not know the last page was a download page. I then update my wii and now can't get letter bomb. I was hoping to download games as I am house bound and this would be the best thing for me. Is there anyway I can change my wii so I can download your system or do you know another program I can do try. I would really appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks for responding Don.

Letterbomb is for 4.3, and 4.3 is the newest version of the System Menu. Letterbomb will still work on your Wii, just download Letterbomb again and run it again. I can't help you with downloading games though as that is piracy.

Yes, you should use Letterbomb. You can use my Wii Homebrew Guide that is liked above the comment box for step-by-step instructions how to use it. Feel free to ask any other questions on here as well.

I am unable to see any apps after following the guide. I am trying to load the dos mil file but there is nothing showing in home brew.

Make sure your SD card is set up correctly. Try double checking everything; You must have the "apps" folder on your SD card and inside that folder should be a folder for the app you want to use, and inside the folder for the app should be a "boot.dol" or "boot.elf" file. If you are absolutely sure your SD card is as I've described, try another SD card if you can. Also note that if you are using a microSD card in an adapter, it may not work, regular sized SD cards are best.
I'm not familiar with "the dos mil" file that you speak of.

Hi I got a message i was trying to load the homebrew browser it gave me something that said exception dsi occurred aqnd a bunch of numbers after and letters what does that mean ?

When a homebrew application crashes it will show an "Exception DSI Occurred" message with memory addresses of where the crash occured. Usually you just have to restart the application and it may run correctly. In the case of the Homebrew Browser, you may get the crash if there are USB devices plugged in or Gamecube Memory cards.
